On July 30, 2015, Dr. Ivan Sascha Sheehan, Associate Professor of Public and International Affairs at the University of Baltimore, shared his concerns vis-à-vis the P5+1 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran in the congressional newspaper The Hill.

With a majority of Americans viewing the proposal to lift sanctions on the Iranian regime in exchange for the promise of limits on its nuclear program negatively, the Obama administration is encountering tough questions on Capitol Hill. Congress next needs to decide how to proceed with an accord they had no hand in drafting. #PDF

Dr. Sheehan is the Director of the graduate programs in Negotiations and Conflict Management and Global Affairs and Human Security in the College of Public Affairs at the University of Baltimore.

Dr. Ivan Sascha Sheehan, Associate Professor of Public and International Affairs at the University of Baltimore, was selected by President Kurt Schmoke to receive the 2015 President’s Faculty Award for outstanding contributions related to teaching, research, and service in support of the university’s mission. The $5,000 award is the highest honor bestowed on a faculty member annually. Recipients of the award are required to have a record of excellence in teaching, research, scholarly activity, and service. Dr. Sheehan will be honored at a dedicated luncheon during Convocation week in September 2015. #JPEG #Invitation

Below is a summary of the selection committee’s assessment, as forwarded by Associate Provost Catherine Andersen:

“Dr. Sheehan is a highly regarded faculty member who reflects the University of Baltimore’s highest standards. In his time at the University of Baltimore he has published six scholarly articles, a book, a peer-reviewed book chapter and many other chapters and research monographs. His numerous works and presentations have significant impact on the fields of terrorism and counterterrorism, insurgency, conflict management and political oppression. He is also an outstanding teacher. In a letter submitted in support of his nomination, Dr. Larry Thomas – former Dean of the College of Public Affairs – indicated that ‘…his student evaluations are among the highest that I have seen during all my years serving both as a faculty member and as an administrator at the university.’”

Dr. Sheehan is the Director of the graduate programs in Negotiations & Conflict Management and Global Affairs & Human Security in the College of Public Affairs at the University of Baltimore.
