Romney Should Embrace the Iranian Opposition – Haaretz – Opinion
My commentary on the U.S. presidential contest and Iran policy.
On June 23, Dr. Ivan Sascha Sheehan traveled to Paris as a guest of the Organizing Committee for the Convention of Democracy in Iran to attend an international assembly for democracy put on by the National Council of Resistance of Iran. The event, attended by approximately 100,000 expatriate Iranians from around the world, was the largest gathering of the Iranian opposition to date. World leaders, bipartisan U.S. officials, and academics participated and ongoing efforts to promote democracy, the rule of law, and human rights in Iran were discussed.
